The authorities did not wish to confront those citizens with the sight of the dead. Finally bodies were dumped unidentified into mass graves. Like plutonium waste which we would like to forget, these bodies had become poisonous.

About This Quote

The authorities of the city did not want to see the dead bodies of their citizens. They tried many different ways of disposing of the bodies. A mass grave was one of the most common ways for this purpose, along with cremation and burial in a common grave. However, none of these methods were able to keep the dead away from the people of that city.

One day, more dead bodies were brought into the city and dumped in a mass grave. This resulted in a large number of people coming in and out of this grave in order to visit and view their loved ones' graves. Because this grave was so close to the city's population, the authorities did not wish to confront those citizens with the sight of the dead.

Because there were so many people who would come and go from this grave, they wanted to forget about it so that they would not have to deal with such sadness.
